What to budget

Intimate
Rs. 80L — 1.2Cr
  • 80-150 guests
  • 2-3 events
  • heritage or mid-range property
Grand
Rs. 1.2Cr — 2Cr
  • 150-250 guests
  • 3-4 events
  • luxury heritage resort
Ultra Luxury
Rs. 2Cr+
  • 250+ guests
  • full venue buyout
  • Suryagarh or equivalent

Jaisalmer is generally more accessible in budget than Udaipur — but vendor travel costs and limited local supply can close that gap quickly. Plan early and plan carefully. If you're planning your India wedding from abroad, we coordinate every detail across time zones.

What most planners don't tell you

  • The airport only operates in season

Jaisalmer Airport is open October to March only. Outside this window, guests must fly into Jodhpur and drive 4 hours. Build this into your guest communication from day one.

  • Jodhpur is your real base city

Most major vendors — photographers, makeup artists, decorators — come from Jodhpur or Jaipur. This adds travel, stay and food costs to your vendor budget. Factor Rs. 1-3 lakhs for this.

  • Suryagarh stands alone

There is one truly iconic property in Jaisalmer and that is Suryagarh. Everything else is a tier below. If Suryagarh fits your vision and budget, prioritise it. If not, have realistic expectations about the alternatives.

  • The magic is in the setting, not the infrastructure

Jaisalmer is not commercialised — and that is exactly why it is special. But it also means fewer vendors, less competition and higher logistics costs. You are paying for authenticity.

  • Book Sam Sand Dunes as an event

An evening at the dunes — dhol, folk dancers, bonfire, a desert sky full of stars — is one of the most memorable experiences you can give your guests. Don't skip it. Plan it as a formal event, not an afterthought.

  • Rajasthan alcohol tax applies here too

Same as Udaipur — 24-30% above base spirit costs. Plan for it early.
