What most planners don't tell you
- Most properties serve only vegetarian food
Rishikesh is a deeply spiritual city — the vast majority of properties here serve strictly vegetarian food and do not allow non-vegetarian catering on premises. If non-vegetarian food is important to your guests, confirm this with your venue before booking.
- Outside music stops at 10pm
No outdoor music or amplified entertainment is permitted after 10pm in Rishikesh. This is a city-wide rule rooted in its spiritual character. Evening celebrations need to be planned accordingly — and in our experience, the intimacy of a riverside evening after 10pm is beautiful in its own right.
- Room inventory is genuinely limited
Even the largest properties in Rishikesh accommodate 100-150 guests comfortably. For larger guest counts, guests will need to stay across multiple properties. This destination is best suited for intimate and mid-size weddings.
- The Ganga Aarti is unmissable
Every evening at Triveni Ghat, the Ganga Aarti is one of the most extraordinary experiences in India. Building this into your wedding itinerary — for you and your guests — is something we strongly recommend. It is not a tourist attraction. It is genuinely moving.
- Dehradun is your nearest airport
The nearest airport is Jolly Grant in Dehradun, approximately 45km away. Direct flights connect Dehradun to Delhi (1 hour), Mumbai and Bengaluru. From Dehradun, the drive to Rishikesh takes approximately 1 hour.
- This destination suits a specific couple
Rishikesh is not for everyone — and that is exactly what makes it special. It suits couples who want meaning over grandeur, spirituality over spectacle, nature over infrastructure. Couples who choose Rishikesh almost always say it was the most intentional decision of their wedding planning.
