What most planners don't tell you

  • Book a wedding, not a hotel

Udaipur's magic is in its lakes, palaces and open courtyards. Booking a property just for its banquet hall misses the point entirely — you could do that in Delhi.

  • Lake proximity comes at a price

The most iconic properties sit on or right next to the lake — and they are among the most expensive venues in India. Some require boat travel to reach the venue itself. Factor both into your planning early.

  • Book 10-12 months ahead

Peak season venues fill up a year in advance. Late planning means working with whatever's left — not what you actually wanted.

  • Venue buyouts are standard

Most palace and resort properties require you to book all rooms for the duration of your wedding. Empty rooms still cost money.

  • Rajasthan alcohol tax

One of the highest in India — typically 24-30% above base spirit costs. One of the most commonly missed budget items. Plan for it from day one.

  • Vendor travel adds up

Photographers, makeup artists and specialist vendors coming from outside Udaipur charge separately for travel, stay and food. Budget Rs. 1-3 lakhs for this depending on team size.
